Helping offshore construction projects minimise environmental impact and achieve regulatory compliance
Seiche provides specialist underwater acoustics and marine environmental services to support offshore construction projects from early planning through to completion. By combining underwater noise modelling, environmental assessment and real-time monitoring, Seiche helps developers manage environmental risk, protect marine life and comply with regulatory requirements.
During the planning phase, Seiche undertakes detailed underwater noise modelling to predict sound propagation from construction activities such as piling, dredging, cable installation, rock placement and vessel operations. These assessments evaluate potential impacts on marine mammals, fish and other sensitive marine species, supporting environmental impact assessments, marine licence applications and the development of effective mitigation strategies.
During construction, Seiche supplies industry-leading Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) systems to support experienced Passive Acoustic Monitoring Operators (PAMOs) and Marine Mammal Observers (MMOs) in monitoring for marine mammals. These systems detect the presence of vocalising marine mammals in real time, enabling mitigation measures such as pre-start searches, soft-start procedures, exclusion zones and temporary delays where required to reduce the risk of disturbance or injury.
Seiche also provides underwater noise measurements during construction to validate predictive models, demonstrate compliance with consent conditions and optimise mitigation measures. By integrating advanced acoustic technology with marine environmental expertise, Seiche enables clients to deliver offshore construction projects safely, efficiently and in compliance with environmental regulations while minimising impacts on the marine environment.
